Renewal and Sleep Depreviation

Okay, random thoughts:

Love sucks, except when it works.

Dark Knight will finally destroy that evil that is Titanic.

Stacy Keibler is way too hot.

Olivia Munn is hot.

Amy Whinehouse is not.

Duffy is like Amy W. without the issues.

Coke is delicious but it makes me sick.

I love Popeyes chicken.

What is the point of collecting action figures?

Tera Patrick doing developer commentary for Saint's Row 2......... brilliant!

Sleep now.

Does it Have to be?

In the pursuit of education and elevation, the worst enemy is procrastination.

Society = ?

When I look around, I start to notice some things. Short attention span, no skepticism, rampant cynicism, and shopping. So what is our society for? It's not so much a self-righteous rant against soulless consumerism (because god knows I have got a lot of stuff I don't need to live) as it is a question. What are we striving for? Maybe it's because of my lack of enthusiasm for the future, which is very bad, but it seems that we are just moving in circles. Almost every country in the world are gaining on us while we do....... what? Education is hurting, but we pay teachers just enough not to starve (mostly). China and India pumps out degrees like they're having intelligent diarrhea. Our manufacturing is almost completely outsourced while the out-of-work blue collar worker are just one more humiliation shy of forming gangs to hunt down Mexicans who just happen to be the most convenient scapegoat. Never mind that our American based corporations sent those jobs out in the first place. Okay, now it is beginning to sound like a rant, but the point I'm making is that we, as a society, don't seem to have much to live for or strive to accomplish. We live, get married, have kids, raise them, then die. Is that really all there is? How are we advancing as a people? I am not that old but I look at kids today and I just have a sense that something is missing. But I'm not a parent so I can't really talk. But I want to sound the alarm. We should really think about what we can do to focus society. What is needed to bring the nation together and really work for something? This is the best nation on Earth, and I think we were meant to do something good. I hope to see this in my lifetime, maybe even cause it.

On Love and Regret

There are three goals that are the most persistent in my life:

1) Make the world a slightly better place before I die (work in progress)
2) Be a good person (currently successful)
3) Write a book (nothing so far)

Then there are the "side quests" that usually crop up, like work, academia, and life in general. For citizens of a superpower, we lead a very unnecessarily complex life. We need to make the money so the lights stay on and our bellies don't grumble. But I have noticed that people in my generation (including me) seem to have all our supposed goals out of whack. Get the career, then get the family. Have the family, then get the career. Go out, have fun, and worry about the future later. And then it just gets more skewed. I thought I knew what I wanted but somewhere along the line I missed something. I was so focused on preparing myself for the trials and tribulations of the work force I sorely missed developing my people skill. Not in business, because those are sharp. I mean talking with other people in a social setting. It just seems to me that we have a harder time making a connection then our parents did. Now I feel as if I can't get my point across or people misunderstand me. I have to get better, but I am also worried. If we are having trouble and don't see it, what happens to the kids who come after us?

The Truth..............
................................. is that she is gone and it hurts so much.

Maybe it is a Good Day

Iron Man, Batman: The Dark Knight, Incredible Hulk, Wanted, Hellboy II, it's good to be a N.E.R.D.

WTF?

When it comes to the presidential campaigns, I am always amazed by two things:

1) The promises made.
2) The shock when those "promises" are broken.

The dark side of democracy, something that we as citizens usually try not to dwell on, it that the race for the most powerful position in the government is a popularity contest. It is a race between the nerd with great ideas and the captain of the football team who might hang with you. While this may seem logical (wha?) we keep thinking that no one can pull the wool over our eyes.

And then we got eight years of Bush.

I am not even going to bother with the opposing view. They are so mainstream right now I wonder where all these people were two terms ago. But as a citizen I have to accept responsibility for my president's actions, as we all should do. Of course I said should, because the other bit of democracy is the ability to shift blame at will and wash our hands. But after eight years I don't think we can be that blind anymore. The race between McCain and Obama will be a tough one and I have to hope that we the people will do our damn duty and pick the right guy. I refuse to let this country go down the tubes because we made an "oopsy". So research the candidates, find out where they stand, and register to vote your informed decision. Because if I hear one more person say "Well, how was I to know" I will beat them down. Verbally, with lots of cuss words.

Games vs. Relationships

I like games. I like women. In a contest, women usually win every time. So why is it that I see these shows where guys are dragged onto shows and made to admit to an "addiction". Seriously, a balance can be had. A game can be continued at any time. Quality time spent with your woman is fleeting. So when it comes to a choice between "awesome game x" and your girl, please, just take your girl out. Otherwise, I will pounce. I am out there, and I am always watching.

The Truth..........
............................ is that I know an awesome girl called E who made my life a lot better, and I met her by chance. If you want a destiny, create it for yourself.
